By the way, whatever did happen to bin-Laden? I haven't heard Duhbya mention him in a long while now.
Yep, that tail sure has to wag a lot of dogs, doesn't it?
Got to pondering, and I think Bush is more of a sprinter than a marathon runner. He starts out strong, but can't keep it up. Shortly after taking office he had some legislative successes during the honeymoon, then the bloom was off the rose and Jeffords across the aisle. Now that he's packed Congress with Republican sycophants he's again on a roll, but I don't expect it to last. I suspect he and Rove don't expect it to last, either. There's a sense of desperation to ram through as much of their agenda as possible while they can.
Same thing after 9/11. Came out swinging, everybody was behind him, and we got to feel good beating the crap out of Afghanistan. In retrospect, ObL made a stupid mistake hiding in a country that not only couldn't put up much of a fight, but had a reprehensible government whose destruction gave us the moral high ground. But he (or his inheritors) learned and dispersed, and that's the rub now--the War on Terror is stalled. It's embarrassing watching Dub tie himself in knots trying to turn Saddam Hussein into a proxy for Osama bin Laden.
Haven't I read you tossing around some Latin now and again? Should I have said "bellus interruptus"? Isn't "belli" plural? Or maybe I did get it right--Afghanistan and Iraq are only the beginning. Oh man, war without end. Just peachy.
