Re: Do you believe?

Hmm, asking questions starting with "Do You Believe..."?

Which means there is no straight answer, no real proof.

Which means answers are based on Faith rather than Facts.

Chirac is not completely opposed to war, but it would only be acceptable as a last resort, when every other mean has been tried and it would also mean failure.
And we are noticing acceptance to let the UN inspectors do their job for several more weeks, something both Blair and Chirac have asked.

War is a failure because it is an extremely dirty business. War isn't at all interesting videos with huge explosions in black and white. There are people down there, people who are living hell.
War has unpredictable consequences; the ally can become the enemy.

In fact, I'm pretty sure Saddam is the evil guy personnified, not because of his crimes (which he committed even while he was the ally against Iran), but because he betrayed the US trust by invading Kuwait. He turned back his jacket (retourner sa veste as we say in french) and this was a big mistake.
It's also why there's the second Intifada in Palestine: Palestinians thought they'd live in peace (after the Oslo agreements or the Camp David talks) and then all of a sudden (certainly to be blamed on their authority), all hopes vanished as Israel kept occupying their territories.

And also, OBL had been for years a USA ally. He completely changed his mind after the Gulf war and with his money organized the worst terrorist attacks in history.

And, because of communication problems, quiproquo's, arms talk .
