Arab Israelis showed up in large numbers at the polls, and Arab parties may pick up a few seats.

From the point of view of other Arab nations, the Intifada has been a wild success. Moderate Israelis are shoved aside. Sharon is exactly the person they wanted to win in hopes of continuing the perpetual misery and war. Remember, the last thing on Earth that the Arab nations want is peaceful coexistence between Palestine and Israel. The objective is the destruction of Israel, no matter how long it takes. And if they have to chew up every last miserable Palestinian in the attempt? Well, that's what cannon fodder is for. It's not like the rulers of Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the rest are missing any meals. Or Arafat for that matter.

Sharon wouldn't even BE prime minister in the first place if the Intifada had not been started.
