<I love it when a plan comes together!

The speech was excellent, delivered excellent and aside from God being invoked as if it were 1776, I liked the speech all the way through.

The AIDs bit didn't exactly come out of left field - there is an underlying reason for it besides solely humanitarian reasons.

By opening up a floodgate of money and AIDS drugs into this region - one buys a lot of goodwill in the African continent. The African continent is large and can either sink into the abyss and become a refuge for fleeing terrorists - or the region can become more US-centric and realize not all countries want a Belgian Congo, French Equatorial Africa or Anglo Egyptian Sudan.

This is an attempt to turn the tide and pave the way for greater cooperation with the US and international goodwill.

The tax cuts now bit was self-explanatory.

The Iraq bit was persuasive and well delivered. It helps Bush because he believes what he says. Clinton could deliver lines fabulously - yet without genuine conviction - concern for an issue was displayed by a biting of his lower lip.

The American public quickly has been pulled away from the fanatical fringe and the media depress-a-thon.

Once again Bush has his mandate - and three branches of Government to fulfill it.

It's not an easy job. But he's doing a better job than I expected, especially considering the circumstances.
