Leading the Horse to Water

An old folk saying goes "You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make it drink." In the case of the UN Security Council and the stubborn refusal, by some of its members, to ignore the charade of Iraqi disarmament in some misguided pacifist "containment via inspections," the UN has become the proverbial horse refusing to drink.

The French, call for "double or triple" the inspectors, as if this will change the Iraqis practice of concealment. Apparently the French minister did not perceive the significance of Powell's excellent indictment of Saddam's regime- namely that they were being informed by someone in the inspection team!

Yes, someone on Blix's crew is informing Saddam of upcoming inspections two days in advance, or as soon as a destination has been chosen. Five times as many inspectors or a hundred times, would only increase the leakage and create an illusion that somehow more is being checked out, when it is not.

The shell game Saddam plays has been revealed, yet like suckers or idiots, France and other nations wish to keep playing in the hopes they can outwit the game.

Never in history, has so much been at stake, never have so many lives depended upon the action of the US to prevent mass murders facilitated by a global thug.

Like Al Capone who had judges and juries bought off, so he would never be convicted of his parade of murders and crimes, Saddam has bought off the UN - with OIL MONEY.

Yes, the humanitarian program in place puts billions of dollars in UN accounts in banks around the world, a fortune in interest to be "misplaced" into a sea of accounts of UN bureacrats.

Saddam is the Al Capone of foreign dictators- endlessly frustrating those who would put an end to his rampage upon humanity.

Unfortunately, when all is said and done, it is the US which bears the burden of protecting the world in the face of the world's indolence. Therefore the UN, like the paid for Judges and crooked juries, are irrelevant and their decisions hold no weight with those who shoulder the world's safety.

Powell, urged Bush to go to the UN. Bush, reluctantly agreed and hoped that somehow things would be different than in the twelve years of the previous Saddam charade - but sadly the charade and lack of resolve continues unabated.

The appeasers and enablers of this world - who endanger others by facilitating their addictions or perversions - are legion.

Attempting to sway the minds of these folks is as purposeless as attempting to untie the Gordian knot. Alexander knew when dealing with purposeless obstruction - you don't play the obstructors' game and act with a powerful slice of the sword.

The sword has already been unsheathed.
