German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, right, welcomes Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer, left, prior to his declaration about a possible military strike on Iraq at a German Bundestag parliament session in Berlin Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003. Schroeder told the German parliament his commitment to a peaceful solution of the Iraq crisis remains undiminished, insisting that a war can still be headed off. (AP Photo/Markus Schreiber)
I suggest that the behind the scenes conflicts will be acted out in a new made for TV special: War, Hair Dye and Taxes
Hal Holbrook will play Fischer:
Gerard Depardiu will play Schroeder:
It will reveal the hatred of two ambitious men who need to unite to cling to power yet who despise one another beyond comprehension.
It will naturally be billed as a comic-tragedy in the Greek tradition.
