Trade sanctions against France are being proposed by some in Congress.
This is a crappy idea. While I might be willing to support a private, voluntary boycott against France or another country--or I might not--using government force to shackle trade for political purposes always sets off dozens of alarm bells in my head.* It almost certainly won't accomplish anything useful, and it's bad policy. Naturally, trade in military weapons comes under a totally different category, and probably should be controlled by the government.
Leave it up to the citizens, folks. We can make our own decisions on this.
Pulling out troops is another issue, and should be discussed separately.
*And before you ask, no I do not like the trade embargo against Cuba. Not because I'm a fan of Castro, but because I don't think it is the best way to free that nation.
Sanctions against France?
