I think with the Iraqis, if we hit them in the right place then the whole works will shatter. However the Iranians are another story. I think it would be unwise to actually field an army against them. They are fanatically religious and anti-American to a point approaching insanity. Their repressive government would probably become more popular if confronted with an American enemey. Also fighting them would be nasty. The Iranians would probably use human-wave tactics with the soldiers being women and small children (they used kids when they fought against Saddam). With the Iranians it is best to invoke a containment strategy and hope they wise up on their own.
