From Washington to New York to Boston, most of us in the NE corridor, regardless of politics, were profoundly affected by Sep. 11, and it's had a huge impact on how liberals and conservatives alike view world events, US foreign policy, homeland security; etc. I think the reason is because we all have numerous personal and professional contacts in New York City. Plus all 4 hijacked planes took off from East coast airports.
