Why I support the war

The war is raising oil prices, which means gas is more expensive. When gas is more expensive people drive less. This means it slows global warming.

If things keep going like this, with an extended period of high gas and oil prices there will be a drastic reduction of greenhouse gases.

The Bush administration is going to want to preserve the oil fields, since that is what this war is all about, so I am not too worried about Saddam torching them and polluting the environment that way, like he did last time.

I know those people who drive environment destroying vehicles support the war - but I know I and others who care about the environment will get the last laugh.

9-11, while tragic for humanity, was a great victory for the environment inasmuch as it grounded many planes polluting the atmosphere. Still to this day air traffic has not resumed to the level it was pre-9-11.

Yes, the foolish conservatives can have their private little war, but it is we who speak in the name of Gaia who will reap the fruit of this oil grab.

There is a good chance that if Bush seizes Iraq, there will be less of a push for drilling of the California coasts and elsewhere, giving the gulls and sea lions a temporary reprieve.

That's why I support the war.
