It's part of the Leftist agenda that it must be shown that America did not "save" Afghanistan and that life there could not possibly be improving, which is why backsliding is given a lot of coverage while progress is not.
Did you seen anything in the mainstream news media about the $60 million to build 1,000 schools? Anywhere? But if someone takes a shot at a U.S. soldier, it saturates the wire services.
The fact is, before the Taliban was ejected, the entire nation was a religious prison camp. A few holdouts are regrettable, but still an improvement of the original situation.
