Massive Damage to US prestige?
I strongly disagree. In fact I think going along with a 30 - 45 day delay would in fact show the US repects the opinions of other nations, and that would likely win the approval or abstention of the rest of the security council. It may even, hold your breath, avert the war altogether! I think it highly unlikely but who knows maybe Saddam will totally come clean or someone would bump him off, thus saving thousands of people's lives.
