He's one of the worst polluters on Earth, making Exxon look like the Sierra Club by comparison. Saddam torched hundreds of Kuwaiti oil fields back in 1991. It took months to put them out. That one act resulted in a hell of a lot of pollution, both in the air and on the ground around the oil fields.
He also wrecked environmental havoc in Iraq's marsh regions (WETLANDS!).
Saddam is threatening to do the same thing to Iraq's oil fields. In fact, some reports indicate that he may have already started. In addition, reports indicate he is digging trenches that he plans to fill with oil and ignite to slow our forces and blind our laser-guided weapons (won't do squat against JDAMS, though).
With an environmental record like that, you'd think the Greens would be all for deposing Saddam, but then, it seems they're more opposed to Bush and the US instead of Saddam's environmental disasters.
Current Events » in reply to Blix says the environment is more of a threat than Iraq!!!
Then he should really be pissed at Saddam!
