Let's say I'm marching in a large group supporting the war. Suddenly two people raise a banner at the front of the march saying "ALL NIGGERS MUST DIE."

One would like to assume that the rest of the marchers would either converge on the offenders like linemen on an opposing quarterback, or else they would leave the march.

If I and the rest of the marchers continue marching behind this banner as though nothing was wrong, you tell me what that says.

This banner was prepared long in advance, with great care, and there was obviously not one single marcher in these photos unaware of it, unless he was marching with a guide dog. This was not some tiny slogan on a looney's T-shirt.

Sorry, but despite the justifications from you, Mary Anne, and others on the "irrelevance" of the opinions of fellow marchers or organizers, at some point when you lie down with pigs you have to assume you are just as dirty.

Now, to be strictly fair, this is labeled as a "breakaway march," and maybe you can make a case that this was a group of agitators within the larger protest, who only unfurled the sign after it moved off. That's cutting them a lot of slack.
