Current Events » in reply to Well, guess what…looks like Saddam may be responsible for the marketplace bombing in Baghdad

Wouldn't be at all surprised.

The fact that nothing in the area of the marketplace had been targeted was clearly explained in the Pentagon briefing this morning. It was also explained that while antiaircraft sites near residential areas had been targeted, that they were not in the area of the marketplace. They showed a map, but Fox News didn't flash it on the screen.

Interestingly, most of the day on the internet, most news stories have been along the lines of this one, which pretty much assumes as a given that two cruise missiles hit the marketplace, despite the "Iraqi defense officials said" modifier that should raise alarm bells in any reasonable person. Also, the antiaircraft site attacks have been routinely "merged" in news stories with the marketplace bombing, making it sound like they were right next to each other.

Suffice it to say that in the current campaign, pretty much every big bomb has a pedigree. If two bombs are unaccounted for, or went astray, it won't take long to find it out. If every bomb hit an assigned target, it won't take long to find that out either.
