Re: View from Canada

From the dining room window, one can look south across the strait toward Port Angeles and the snow-covered majesty of the Olympic Range. Literally, a new perspective on the United States; one which allows contemplation of magnificence without the distraction of current events.

I will not romanticize the lot of the expatriot; neither will I deny the potential connotation of 'ex-patriot'. I breathe free here, and that is more than enough. The motivation was as apolitical as could be, but the end result remains: a new perspective.

A true friend... will have the courage to tell you the truth about what you do, even if it puts friendship at risk. I believe it is our duty, as friends, to stand aside from this terrible thing you are now engaged in and to tell you, clearly and in friendship, this is not the way. This is wrong.

A true friend might also listen to counsel given in friendship. I have learned that to be without friends is to be soul-dead and in danger. I believe Americans do not wish to be friendless in the larger world; I do not think the eventual successors to the current administration wish to inheret a friendless nation.

Luck to all --
