Our technological superiority will diminish significantly and casualties increase greatly in a ground war with a numerical disadvantage. Sounds like the strategy doubters have a basis for concern to me with the caveat that we do appear to have the option to wait for "significant degradation of Iraqi forces". Proper patience can mostly make up for the failure of the knockout punch strategy. It should also be noted that the planning allowed for such a failure with backup plans for a prolonged ground assault. We took a reasonable gamble and lost. It was reasonable because we risked little for a quick jackpot. It appears our margin for errror was damn near the cliff of heavy casualties however given the tougher than expected Iraqi resistence.
