Since the start of the Iraq war, Taliban militia have stepped up attacks in many parts of Afghanistan.
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates -- Reuters
Afghanistan´s deposed Taliban have urged Muslims to support Iraq against the U.S.-led military offensive, al-Jazeera television reported on Sunday.
"A statement from Taliban called on the Islamic nation to stand with Iraq in its jihad (holy war) against invading forces," the Qatar-based channel said.
The statement came as U.S.-led forces tightened their grip on Iraq and made plans for an interim government to run a postwar government there.
The Taliban statement warned Iraq´s opposition groups that Washington would not give them any power after the overthrow of the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein, the television reported.
