Flags...
The U.S. guys helping to hook up the ropes on the statue (it's gonna take some horsepower to rip it loose) stuck an American flag up on the statue. Then, some U.S. soldiers realized that this wasn't quite right. The American flag was carefully removed and stowed, and to the wild cheers of the crowd, replaced by an Iraqi flag.
Exactly as it should have been.
