Thanks to their active interference in carrying out UN 1441, the Turks failed to pass support for the American use of American resources in Turkey with sufficient majorities in the Turkish Parliament to permit 60,000 troops opening a Northern Front against saddam.
Now the Kurds, whose nationalism the Turks greatly fear, are the only Iraqis fighting in an organized and meaningful way to earn liberation from saddam.
If the Americans had been permitted to do what the Trukish military and leadership wanted, the danger of Kurdish fragmentation of the region would be minimal.
Thanks to France, it is larger.
And the war is lasting longer to boot.
