Just a side-coment:

Looting has a long history in the US as a television spectator sport, since (at least) the Watts riots. Americans know what looting is about - it's Aftermath. It's what the National Guard is called up to prevent. It also makes good copy and easy video, especially if you''re fairly certain the looters won't turn on <i?you.

Breaking the bank and taking the cash is silly - how long do they think those banknotes are going to remain worth the paper? Rage taken out on (former) government offices is expected revenge. Looting hospitals??? That's, you should pardon the expression, a little sick to American sensibilities. So it makes better copy.

I miss Paddy Chayevsky...
