Blair dragged the party kicking and screaming waaaaay right. That's how they got elected.
The majority of the party is now right of the centrist Liberal Democrats (who havent a clue as to what to do-move right to be center or move left to be different?). It's almost as right as the Democrats are here :-) and composed of the same types of people - middle class, union workers and minorities.

Anyway....
Even when Labour* was veering to the far left in the early eighties as a knee-jerk reaction to That Bloody Woman**, Galloway was still an idiot.
