Reason for War?

Critics of the War will see negative from this, I am sure. But it shows me Bush is looking at the long term on how to prevent future 9/11's. Not only will this prevent future terrorist attacks on America, but it will change the Middle East in a positive way. For once, our leaders are looking at the big picture and towards the future.

I really like this part;

Senior officials decided that unless action was taken, the Middle East would continue to be a breeding ground for terrorists. Officials feared that young Arabs, angry about their lives and without hope, would always looking for someone to hate — and that someone would always be Israel and the United States.

Europeans thought the solution was to get a peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians. But American officials felt a Middle East peace agreement would only be part of the solution.

The Bush administration felt that a new start was needed in the Middle East and that Iraq was the place to show that it is democracy — not terrorism — that offers hope.

***************

That last part I have heard before in a Tony Blair interview. PM Blair said that President Bush and he share the belief that the only way to beat terrorism is to change the environment that breads them. They believe that if you give these people freedom, hope, and a better way of life, they will not want to become terrorist.

Poverty and ignorance breeds terrorism. Suicide bombers are people who have nothing to loose. Give them something worth loosing- freedom- and they will not blow themselves up.

Will President Bush’s plan for a new, peaceful, Middle East work? History will tell. At the very least, it show America is trying to make a positive change in the world by ending terrorism, promoting democracy, and pacifying a region that has been in conflict since Biblical times. It won’t be an easy road, but most worthy goals are never easy.

If any one can pull this off, America can, but it would be nice if the rest of the world would help out.
