I remember, while visiting Israel in 1979, I went to the Gaza strip for one afternoon.
We had to shift from an Israeli taxi to a Plestinian taxi.
The Palestinian driver was of a certain age, spoke english, wanted to explain what his everyday life was. On the other side of the road, I saw a Palestinian truck, loaded with fruits, being stopped by Israeli soldiers and the trucker was forced to empty his truck.
The taxidriver told us this happens all the time. Peasants want to deliver their food to Soukhs (arab markets) in Israel but loose part of their livelyhood just going from one side to the other.
That was 2 years after the Camp David agreement and there were no suicide bombers at the time, nor any intifada.
No wonder they feel humiliated.
