Kashmir is a tough call.

Our past neighbours were from Kashmir, the elderly father a Hindu Math professor with a beautiful home, a good job, a beautiful family, living in what sounds like paradise - they described it as much like BC, with green everywhere, high mountains, rushing clear rivers, orchards and lush farms.

One night, after increasing tensions, the whole family had to flee for their lives, leaving everything behind except what they could carry in a suitcase each. But even after losing so much, this man was not at all bitter - he was the most peaceful, transcendent person I've ever met.
