Linux has become simpler.

There is a 4 year academy in Sweden which can get you through the basics rather nicely. The really great part is that summers you can travel through Europe.

You can hire a tutor from Norway who will come and live in your home for 9 months and teach you. They then go home for 3 months, and come back for another 9 months. A super part of that is you can reach them by email, if your email is working yet, during the 3 months they are gone. At the end of that time you should be able to partition your hard drive and duplicate your files without any problems.

Last, and I wouldn't advise this, is the "Linus Immersion Program", LIP, in which you are put into a class which moves along at a startling rate. If you fall behind you are waterboarded as an incentive to keep up. This has the advantage of being the least expensive as it is the fastest. A motivated student is a good student. AND, it's relatively inexpensive as the CIA subsidizes it. Their agents use it as a laboratory for learning waterboarding, and it's conducted in a small amphitheater where some of the seats are sold to folks wanting to watch.

As you can see Linux is becoming more available to the general user. I wouldn't dismiss it off-hand.
