It is a tragedy, and the nations of orphans will come back to haunt us.... AFRICA, the birthplace of humans IS in a LOT of trouble now, We could help more, but getting the "kleptocracies" out of power would help most...

For the west AIDS has been a tragedy..... over there it has been an apocalypse- look forward to MANY YEARS OF DICTATORS TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THE DESPAIR IT HAS CAUSED!

I doubt, given the governments there, we could have done much to stop it....but it is a tragedy the world will pay for in the coming decades....

Africans are not to blame <not saying you were blaming them> but their "governments" are.... When the leader of South Africa denies that the AIDS virus causes AIDS, and the pope forbids condoms you are just begging for trouble....

I am afraid we are only seeing the tip of the iceberg here...I think it will get worse, long befrore it gets better.....

From what I have seen if SARS gets loose in immunity lacking Africa we are going to see death on a scale we hevent seen since the "black plague"....

we are animals, intelligent ones, but still subject to the whims of the world... One needs only to look at the 'Ebola Reston' strain to see how lucky we have been....

<Ebola Reston was a version of ebola that luckily only affected monkies, it was air borne... It hit a quarentine facility in Reston VA. near DC.... The complex was fumigated and destroyed>
