From the Telegraph.
Two points that need discussing:
--Most of the Iraqi leaders I spoke to last week made it clear that they never wanted an occupation administration in the first place, an administration many believe would not have been necessary if the Americans had not been so negligent in allowing the looters to run riot.
How the hell do we stop all the looting across an entire nation WITHOUT becoming an "occupying force?" Our fear of appearing to "occupy" the nation is paralyzing our ability to do anything that requires taking some form of control over the situation. I say occupy the damn nation already. We'll give it back later. Much later.
--Is it really accurate to classify every act of destruction as being due to "looters?" I would think that at least some of this is organized sabotage.
