A liberal leaps in joy that Bill Clinton is named the third best President in history. Tying with George W. Bush. Cripes.

While there are a lot of great things about George W. Bush, not even the most rabid Republican could realistically name him as the third best President in history. And to put Clinton at that level is complete lunacy.

IMO, this probably says more about the ghastly state of western historical education in our country (and I know something about this from personal experience with my kids) than it says about Clinton, Bush, or even Lincoln. I suspect that many of the respondents couldn't even NAME another President.

In elementary school, my kids could name almost every Indian tribe in old California. They didn't find out who Ulysses S. Grant was until junior high school. WWII and the rise of collectivism was covered...barely...in high school. My daughter is now in an advanced history class and (thank God) finally getting an intensive course in European and American history from a good teacher.

A cynic might think that the last thing the educational establishment wants is for people to find out how, and especially why, our country was built.
