Mr. Greg Orme asked if someone could post a link to his "paper" on the so-called "Martian Spiders" he and Peter Ness "published" at "New Frontiers In Science here at Habitable Zone." Since he was having trouble getting a post to stick, I volunteered to give it a try:

The "paper" attempts to critique the prosaic models for the formation of these enigmatic features located close to the martian south pole and by doing so infer that biology could offer a plausible explanation. Greg asserts that he "vetted" the "paper" with Nick Hoffman and Alex Blackwell and that neither had any "complaints with it."
Of course, the features appear to be the result of the seasonal sublimation and condensation of carbon dioxide ice that occurs as the south pole wanes and waxes each martian year. Given that surface temperatures here average around minus 150 degrees centigrade, biology is not very plausible. But I'll leave it to the rest of you to read Greg's "paper" and judge for yourselves.
