The loyal ones, but now safer and richer because of Rumsfeld's 'hundreds of thousands of dollars" to just have them lay down their arms and go away?
Maybe they made it all the way to Syria and purchased some arms from North Korea, and have restocked, reloaded and are back fighting American forces the only way they know how.
(Just like we let most of the "evil" Taliban go in Afganistan. If we paid them off, we haven't heard about it yet.)

In my opinion, giving them a break and lots of dinero and letting them out on the streets, would be like giving Jeffrey Dahmer clear warning to evacuate, with a suitcase full of thousands of dollars and tell him to stay out of the neighbourhood.
Yup, that fixes the problem.

While all you people here agree that what we did with the Republican guard was the right thing to avoid a bloodbath, I say this to you.
It was done as a pay off to those crooks to keep our President looking like the amazing Mr. Slick so he wouldn't hear next election how many soldiers needlessly died.
It was done for PR.....pure and simple.
