Accommodating browsers with script turned off

I've noted that some of you have complained about having to have script turned on to use the HabitableZone. Personally, I think that the script genuinely enhances the useability of the site, and it's not a security hazard (unless you think that I'm personally out to get you) because script is filtered out of posts. However, I've been tinkering, and I think I have a way to accommodate people who don't want to use script.

There's a parallel system of plain pages with little or no script, the ones IE6 users saw when a bug kept the site from recognizing that browser. The way to force yourself into that system of pages is to enter the site through the front page. The front page URLs now default to the plain static pages, and script on the page edits the links to the dynamic versions if script is enabled. Once you've entered that way, the software should be able to keep straight that you want the plain pages only. I hope--let me know if it doesn't work.

That's about as good as it gets, because it's darn near impossible for the server to tell whether script is enabled out at the browser. The script doesn't interact directly with the server--the script in the browser forms what amounts to a separate program to run the user interface.

Or, you could just relax and turn on script for the HabitableZone.
