I wonder if you might consider dropping the multicolor static wallpaper for a solid, darker color. The poor (and chaotic) contrast is really, REALLY bothering my eyes and I have better than 20/20.
If not a wallpaper change, then a text color that is brighter might be nice.
I realize you have alot on your plate currently buh pulease pulease pulease!
