I think most Americans including independents and Democrats had concluded Saddam had WMD prior to Bush and Co's rehtoric due to Saddam's own actions over a ten year period. We tend to believ it was an honest mistake if WMD were not found because most of us believed they would be found before the public attack of Bush and co. That attack was more for European consumption than American. This is why comments like Don's and the liberal medias land with such a resounding thud and American's think European attitudes on the issue are naive. The fact that they let Hitler get away with so much and the Balkan situation deteriorate so bad while the US tried to let them deal with the situation as they requested does little to assure us their wariness of tyrants is up to snuff.
