re: And . . . ?

"We know he's got ties with al-Qaida. A nightmare scenario, of course, is that he becomes the arsenal for a terrorist network and they could attack America,"

The al-Qai'da training camps in Iraq continue to be ignored, I see.

"Today, the gravest danger in the war on terror, the gravest danger facing America and the world, is outlaw regimes that seek and possess nuclear, chemical and biological weapons,"

Is the statement in itself incorrect? I have to agree with it.

"If Saddam Hussein won't disarm, for the sake of peace, for the sake of a future for our children, we will lead a coalition of nations and disarm Saddam Hussein,"

"Disarmament" included documentation from the Iraqi government pertaining to its disarmament, along with details of "where" the weapons were located. The reply from Baghdad was the same as always -- nothing more than another stall tactic.

Powell before the UN: "We KNOW this" (talking about Chem-Bio weapons)

Oh, that's right. Iraq's use of chemical/biological weapons were just an illusion.

Also: Forged documents regarding attempted purchase of nuclear material...

Which accompanied evidence for the first steps to a very real Iraqi nuclear program.

And regardless of supposedly "favorable" Blix reports (http://www.iraqwatch.org/un/unmovic/unmovic-blix-briefing-021403.html), Hussein was treading on thin ice, and had been so informed many, many times. He did, however, continue to ignore UN authority. He paid for that.

Sorry, D, but all the evidence that really matters remains piled high and steep around Hussein & Co. You need the hard evidence to convict. It may well be that the fall of Saddam Hussein could be summed up under the heading of "Poor Bookkeeping", where the weapons were properly destroyed by the Iraqi Army, but not duly logged -- but such is the fate of sloppy "world leaders" everywhere.

A cover-ups? Sure, why not? We can go that route. But where?

You'll find cover-ups to be common place in regions such as Iraq, Afghanistan, and North Korea. After all, those nations either are, or were run by experts.
