re: Well, that's because it's true, Tom . . .

There will always be lies and stories garnered from Capitol Hill. And regardless of what Davin thinks, we’re not dumb. We can spot the lies. We don’t like them either, but at least we can understand them.

Droll as it may seem to many, there remains a question of national security to consider. This being the case -- because I just said so -- all the facts for and against Iraq are neither known by, nor published to, the public. Reason being, the public has no real understanding of just what national security entails. Think Roswell. By gosh, there are still a heap of secrets regarding Iraq to be kept, and the little tid-bits that are allowed to sneak out chip away at the foundation of this same national security.

What can be said?
How much can be said?

"No comment' doesn't come across very well from the White House, you know.

And reporters are really no different from the average Joe.

Case in point, consider how poor the coverage was from Iraq during Operations: Desert Shield; Desert Storm; and Provide Comfort. Now consider our most recent involvement, and the coverage that we received -- and still receive today -- from our Iraq-based media reps.

If the hounds in the Washington Press Pool only understood what sort of information it was they were asking -- most of which requires a Federal Supreme Court ruling to release (but then who’ll foot the reputation-tab to press it?) -- we, the people -- who the media keeps fighting for -- would actually know a lot more about what’s going on.

A little training in subject matter goes a long way,
Dan
