A democracy depends upon its leaders to tell their citizens the truth. If a desired public policy, in this case going to war, cannot hold in the face of such truth, so be it - that's what democracy is all about.

Just as we demanded the truth from the Clinton administration, we have to demand truth from the present administration. The issue here isn't whether Saddam was a nasty fellow, we all know he was. The issue here is trust in our government.

I'm not going to say anyone lied, because we don't know that yet. It could indeed have been an intelligence snafu of tragic proportions (and consequences), which would, in the end, be almost as bad.

As much as I'd like to revel in Saddam's ouster, things are not adding up. To say the WMD issue is no longer important, or to suggest that somehow it's been settled by the discovery of a couple of controversial trailers, is to beg a number of uncomfortable questions.
