I guess I will bypass the obvious question of who you would rather have controlling space.
No one. We Americans are not the landlords of the earth, but rather are only mere tenants like everyone else.
We are setting oursleves up as the sole arbiter of what is acceptable and what is not, and I can only see resentment as the result.
I was very disappointed by the President's remarks of a few days ago, when asked about China and Mars, asserting in no uncertain terms that there would be no cooperation between the US and China, that our relationship was simply, and only, a competitive one.
We need international friends and partners. Instead we are creating a situation where even our allies have to be wary of us.
