They use the word "spin" to indicate how they created the 100-meter fibers. I'm going to err on the assumption that the 100-meter fibers are actually composed of non-chemically bonded, simply-entangled microfibers, and that the 100-meter length is far weaker than the microfibers it is composed of.
I really wish they would say that in the abstract.
