Recording found from Shuttle?
I'll be keeping an eye on this story.
One of the credibility indicators was the fact that all seven astronauts were equipped with personal mini-cassette recorders for taking notes, according to Smith.
"All seven crew members had a recorder, and we have not found a single one," Smith said. "If they knew things were bad, they would have been talking into those personal recorders."
It has already been established that magnetic tape could have survived the accident, but one assumes that this is an ordinary commercially available cassette, so who knows?
This brings up an unnerving thought...there may be six more tapes still lying on the ground out there. Maybe in plain sight. How many times have you seen a busted cassette lying by the road or on the ground and never gave it a second thought? Who the heck would think of it as Shuttle debris?
