What I enjoy most about the leftist critics of the hunt for weapons of mass destruction is their 'supermarket' conceptualization of Iraq.
WMD is like the Weekly World News - and you should be able to find it by systematically checking out the checkout aisle tabloid stands.
They believe that Iraq can be systematically inspected like a supermarket - and their Weekly World News will either be there or sold out to other lefties who got it first.
The idea of someone actually in possession of those WMD is totally foreign. That someone might remove the Weekly World News from its rack and keep moving it around as one is systematically checking the "supposed" places it should reside is unthinkable. Too complex. No one could do that.
Without hesitation they then next criticize the intelligence industry as if they should know what EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE is doing and be able to observe them clandestinely to seize the WMD. Yet these same people scream about the invasion of privacy when their e-mails are filtered for words like: KILL, BOMB, PRESIDENT, I, LOVE, BIN LADEN. They sign petitions and organize protests when they hear that money is being increased for covert operations or our defense infrastructure and are hopelessly unrealistic and uninformed about the way intelligence is gathered and that intelligence is in constant flux and expires faster than milk left in the sun.
That sort of left-handed thinking is what I find amusing.
WMD can be hidden far easier than than a copy of the Weekly World News in a supermarket. Saddam and his personal entourage could have driven or flown them out of the country in a cargo plane or small aircraft, tons could have been buried by two men in any spot in Iraq. It could have been traded to the Syrians, Libyans or Iranians in exchange for sanctuary. Much of it could have been destroyed in the controlled oil fires set early during the war. It could still be sitting 100 feet under a school somewhere in downtown Baghdad at the same time a septic tank was installed. If a man can hide for 22 years in the same spot - imagine how easy it is for barrels to be hidden. Barrels don't need food or drink and can't shout out their location.
Yes, the completely intelligence illiterate pundits can disparage endlessly - but their words merely reveal their own limitations and ignorance....probably brought about by too much time reading the Weekly World News.
