"I'm beginning to think that maybe this "Let Greedo Shoot First" concept needs work anyway. At what point do we stop responding to the guy living in the house next door, who's raping little boys and burying them in his back yard, by pulling down our windowshades? I mean hey, it's not like he's done anything to MY kids yet. But we can discuss that, too."
The problem is, Tom, its not that we killed just the bastartd 'raping little boys and burying them in his back yard' We killed several hundred little boys and several thousand big folks along the way.
This moral argument you are trying to construct, by analogy, is false. Its false because its categorically different.
And we have not yet demonstrated that what we did won't result in another monster taking over for Saddam.
And Saddam is still at large, regardless, to live free.
And WRT to the Star Wars analogy* Aside from what is below, it seems that Greedo wasn't even armed.
So maybe we're acting like greedo?
*aint argument by analogy great? Everything is like something else in some way- even starwars. So, Like, Bush could be like Luke cause he just *feels* things, and like Tony Blair is like the wookie, because he is a great and dependable ally who is always there and talks funny so you can't understand what he's saying. And so Like Rumsfeld is like Han Solo, plotting really daring moves... and like, hmm, Iraq is really the princess cause Rumsfeld says we are trying to liberate here. And Saddam is....
See how stupid this gets?
