The truth lies between the press releases and the media 'pundicizing'.
Did Bush believe Iraq was a threat? Certainly.
Did people around Bush want to go to war in Iraq? Certainly.
Was the war beneficial to the people in the middle-east? From an American POV...yes.
Are casualties being incurred? Naturally.
Will Iraq become a fundamentalist spawning ground? I doubt it.
Are we stealing Iraq's oil? Nope.
Are companies making money off of the Iraq war? Yes.
Does the good outweigh the bad? Yes, I think it does.
Are any politicians perfectly honest about their actions and motives? That's an oxymoron.
Will politicizing Iraq to damage Bush benefit the people in Iraq? No.
Will a concerted effort to draw in capitalist investment into Iraq help Iraqis? Yes.
Will Iraqis be better off in ten years than they were before the war? 95% will be.
Will their be some more carnage and violence in Iraq? Of course.
Is the economy worse because of the war? Yes.
Will the economy recover? Yes.
Are the tax cuts beneficial for the economy? Yes?
Is the war beneficial for US interests? Yes.
A rational approach to the Iraq war realizes that the collective good of this venture outweighs the bad. If we expect perfect honesty from our politicians and total accuracy from our intelligence agencies - we are being childish and unrealistic.
My 2 cents,
