Don't think I ever said anything like that...
Patents definitely have their uses, but if I had a nickel for every time somebody patented something and got no further, Bill Gates would be shining my shoes.
I think the point I was trying to make is that simply patenting something is not enough to make an invention successful, although if you have the time and money, it's a good idea to get a patent if you have an original idea.
That being said, if someone with bigger lawyers than you have tries to take it from you, you may have a fight on your hands.
