Not sure how you would tell the difference between "looting" and a systematic effort to conceal or destroy such things. Especially if the participants wanted to make it look like looting.

And, hey, the "looted" museum artifacts turned up. So did the "looted" uranium compounds from the nuclear storage site. So who knows?
