I'm getting a little tired of news reports that gloss over things to the point where the wrong impressions are given. Is it deliberate, or just laziness? Don't know.
Two items in recent news:
Two Iraqis were killed during a protest by the U.S. military. Now, picture this occurence in your mind. You're thinking of soldiers firing into a crowd of sign-carrying rock throwers, right?
Did you picture a rioting crowd surrounding humvees filled with Americans, rocking them on their wheels, while breaking the windows in with rocks? Then the Americans fired.
Didn't think so. That's what happened, though.
The uranium in the barrels.
Okay, there is no "uranium." There's uranium ore, which is about as radioactive as my socks, and "yellowcake" partially-processed uranium, which is only slightly more so. If people were getting sick from using the empty barrels, I would bet it was from chemical poisoning, not radiations. Not many stories are clear on this issue either.
There are others too, but these were just the ones I noticed the most.
And now, the rest of the story...
