re: Democratic rewriting of reality

And this is news because...? ;-)

Just joking. Here is one of those things I fail to mention often enough:

These folks really do believe in their moral superiority. The human ego is a complax thing. It selectively extracts data and observations which support its own integrity and tends to discard facts and incidences that would tear it down.

As such, the liberal (or the conservative) are more often than not truly trying to convince themselves of their superiority and correctness.

Look at the way these folks (and several here too ;-) go after Bush. They cling to their own past assertions about his intelligence or lack thereof and his CIA head dad and the fact that he has a silver spoon - and they proceed to build a construct of George Bush that has little or nothing based in reality and is all about a soundbyte developed stereotype. Once this construct has been formed they accept or discard news events and data to support it.

For example his efforts in Africa go against the stereotype - Bush fighting AIDS more than Clinton ever did is a non sequitur. However, Bush the heartless killer of innocent Iraqis IS fully recorded into their consciousness. Now multiply this selective retention and observation over several decades and you have the completion of an ideologue.

Reporters and journalists are ideologues. Politicians are too. Activists are ideologues.

So they honestly don't think they are rewriting history as much as they are pointing out the "important stuff" and which always coincides with their own twisted interpretation of history and events.

Some of the most savvy among them may have a clue as to what they are doing - but do it anyway for the bucks, power or some other justification. But the majority of ideologues ARE completely blind to their imbalanced and therefore flawed views and viewpoints.

Now me...I am an ideologue who fully knows when he is full of it.
