Amazing! Couple Euro govts with economic problems have decided the solution is to cut taxes. Prepare for an onslaught of criticism by Democratic liberals who had formerly praised France and Germany's policies.
Crickets...
"The biggest worry is still Germany. Its government this week approved the plans of the finance minister, Hans Eichel, to lop euro22 billion ($26 billion) off income taxes from January. Chancellor Gerhard Schröder hopes that the cuts, which should prune the average worker's tax bill by 10%, will help to fizz up the economy."
" Most Germans have welcomed the plan to bring forward the final stage of the tax reforms, passed in 2000, under which the top rate of income tax will fall to 42% and the bottom rate to 15%. But most economists expect its effect on growth to be modest."
WHAT? They're not protesting these "unfair" cuts making the rich richer?
And in a former German colony...
"France is also cutting taxes, regardless of the effect on the budget deficit. President Jacques Chirac has now confirmed that he will press ahead with the 30% cut in income taxes that he promised in last year's election campaign. “Income tax has been reduced by close to 7%â€, he said last week, “and this reduction will continue.†'
I mean are these guys closet Bush supporters or what?
Cuting taxes to spur the economy?
Now tell me that Democratic opposition to the Bush tax cut wasn't motivated by a desire to keep the economy in the tank until the elections.
Axis of Weasels to (hold your hats Dems) CUT TAXES!
