I took it as a sarcastic comment on the whole 'Don' thing. Why don't you give the new guy the benefit of the doubt? Or would that be too moderate and even-handed for you? Worse case he turns out to be a crank, then we can ignore him. I think he just made the mistake of teasing right side of the bbs, and now you want a jihad declared.
