I like to think the liberals here are at least one cut above the usual Democrats.com sort, and tend to avoid the cheap shots for the most part. I'd also like to believe that the liberals here wouldn't have spent several threads crowing over Dan Quayle's spelling of "potato."

I wish to reiterate that I do NOT consider Dean's error to be in any way significant, or to reflect on his intelligence*. If the remark was off-the-cuff, it would be entirely likely that a mental count of letters in an odd word like "deceit" would throw someone off. I would think nothing of it if William F. Buckley had done it. No doubt some conservative talk shows will get mileage off of it, but that doesn't mean it's significant either.

The point that the author of the article was making, and that I agree with, is that Dean isn't going to get raked over the coals over nothing like a Republican would have, especially if it had been Bush.

*I have plenty of ammo on that from his policies... ;)
